Rob: I want more, I wanna see the others on the big top-five. I want to see Penny and Charlie and Sarah, all of them. You know? Just see ’em and talk to ’em. You know, like a Bruce Springsteen song.
Bruce Springsteen: You call, you ask them how they are and see if they’ve forgiven you.
Rob: Yeah, and then I feel good. And they feel good.
Bruce Springsteen: They’d feel good, maybe. But you feel better.
Rob: I’d feel clean and calm.
Bruce Springsteen: That’s what you’re looking for, you know, get ready to start again. It’d be good for you.
Rob: Great, even.
Bruce Springsteen: Give that big final good luck and goodbye to your all time top-five and just move on down the road.
Rob: Good luck, Goodbye. Thanks, Boss.

Neyse, Patron diyorduk, bir bakın hele.. üç şarkı üç kanser.

I come from down in the valley
where mister when you’re young
They bring you up to do like your daddy done
Me and Mary we met in high school
when she was just seventeen
We’d ride out of that valley down to where the fields were green

We’d go down to the river
And into the river we’d dive
Oh down to the river we’d ride

Then I got Mary pregnant
and man that was all she wrote
And for my nineteenth birthday I got a union card and a wedding coat
We went down to the courthouse
and the judge put it all to rest
No wedding day smiles no walk down the aisle
No flowers no wedding dress

That night we went down to the river
And into the river we’d dive
Oh down to the river we did ride

I got a job working construction for the Johnstown Company
But lately there ain’t been much work on account of the economy
Now all them things that seemed so important
Well mister they vanished right into the air
Now I just act like I don’t remember
Mary acts like she don’t care

But I remember us riding in my brother’s car
Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir
At night on them banks I’d lie awake
And pull her close just to feel each breath she’d take
Now those memories come back to haunt me
they haunt me like a curse
Is a dream a lie if it don’t come true
Or is it something worse
that sends me down to the river
though I know the river is dry
That sends me down to the river tonight
Down to the river
my baby and I
Oh down to the river we ride

The River

Ardından dan dan:

Now I been lookin’ for a job but it’s hard to find
Down here it’s just winners and losers and don’t get caught on the wrong side of that line
Well I’m tired of comin’ out on the losin’ end
So honey last night I met this guy and I’m gonna do a little favor for him
Well I guess everything dies baby that’s a fact
But maybe everything that dies someday comes back
Put your hair up nice and set up pretty
and meet me tonight in Atlantic City

Atlantic City

You and me we were the pretenders
We let it all slip away
In the end what you don’t surrender
Well the world just strips away

Human Touch

Bruce Springsteen, tabii ki Gürer-san’ın da kulaklarını çınlattırır (bunu yazınca jabber’ı açtım bakayım bulurum belki diye, saat burada 1.20, palpa yok orada / burası sami yen buradan çıkış yok!).

Artık birazdan yatarım, o yüzden dinleyeceğimden değil ama aynı tonlamada olduklarından anmadan geçemeyeceğim Muriel (Tom W) ve The Best of Everything (Tom P and the namussuzlar)

Muriel since you left town the clubs closed down
and there’s one more burned out lamppost down on the main street
down where we used to stroll
and Muriel i still hit all the same old haunts
and you follow me wherever i go
and Muriel i see you on a saturday night
in a penny arcade with your hair tied back
and the diamond twinkle in your eye
is the only wedding ring i’ll buy you
Muriel

Muriel

the best of everything…

geç oldu, yatmak gerek. herkesin yatacak bir yatağı var mı? herkesin görecek rüyası kaldı mı?..

[Eskişehirli bir tüccar vardı. Var mıydı?]

  1. buckshot lefonque — Another day
    Staring out of my window
    Thinking ’bout tomorrow
    Wishing things would clear

    No need to rush
    I ain’t gonna worry
    Any moment my sorrow
    Is bound to dissapear

    Sometimes I tell myself
    I’m better off without you
And then I have to face the emptiness
    I feel inside without you
And find a way to make it through another day

    I need a way
To find the truth within me
Accept the fact that I love you
    My blue eternity

    I hear they say
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
I must have the heart of a lion
    Sifting through love’s remains

My love for you is etched
    Forever in my memory
Now I realize that life goes on
Even though you’re not here with me
I wake up looking forward to another day
A day of living without you
I can’t stand living without you
    Just another day

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Brother, My Cup Is Empty
The Alan Parsons Project – Eye in the Sky
    The Clientele – Losing Haringey
    Cake – Waiting

Clientele’yi ilk defa dinledim (sayende), Tindersticks – My Sister’ın kulaklarını çınlattım ama öyle pek spoken word + dıptıs olmayan müzik (rap) bilmediğimden ötürü olsa gerek.

    Dankjewel!

  3. xkcd — the clientele’in hastasiyim gelmis gecmis en cok dinledigim grup kendisi. hem de losing haringey calmis, mukemmeldir.

  4. userfriendly.org — the clientele cok spoken word degil bu arada, ama losing haringey oyle. bengay.
